Steps Taken To Ensure Safety - County to Re-Open 1/15/26
The safety and well-being of our staff and visitors is top priority. We have and will continue to work with Warren City while they address and resolve the sewer maintenance issues that led to the chemical smell.
To ensure the safety for all staff we brought in hazmat who tested the air in every building affected Wednesday, then formulated the below plan with their advice:
Servpro air scrubbers & hydroxyl machines have been placed in all affected buildings. The machines neutralize odors while also filtering contaminated air.
Maintenance will install additional traps that should prevent the smell from permeating.
Furthermore, Warren city has agreed to hold off on further sewer work until after 4:30pm.
Unless further issues arise we plan to reopen 1/15/26 now that we have taken the steps to ensure the air levels are safe to work in, will be purified, and with the understanding that the Warren city sewer completion work will be done after hours moving forward. Precautions will be taken to protect the air quality within the jail when work is done after hours.
If an Elected Official or Department Head has any concerns we kindly ask that you email County HR.
A genuine thank you to the BOC & Staff, Maintenance Staff, Servpro, and anyone who lended their assistance. Teamwork was needed and together we accomplished more!
Thank You.
