Judge David L. Engler became the Trumbull County Court of Common Pleas Domestic Relations / Juvenile Divisions Judge on November 5, 2024.
He had been a practicing attorney since his graduation with a J.D. from Case Western Reserve University in 1985. He earned his undergraduate B.A. degree also from Case Western Reserve University in 1982.
In addition to his 30-year extensive litigation experience where he maintained a focus on family law issues and cases of abused children, Judge Engler owned and developed two technology companies whose software is widely used across the United States. The software is used in jail management and the guardianship industry.
Judge Engler practiced in 20 of Ohio’s 88 counties, licensed in 4 federal courts, the 6th District U.S. Court of Appeals and practiced before the United States Supreme Court.
His previous public service was as a Youngstown City Councilman; Mahoning County Commissioner; 22-year Mahoning County School Board and Career Center Board Member.
He is married to Diane Engler, a Stark County native, has three children, two stepdaughters, four sons-in-law and five grandchildren.
Judge Engler credits his Christian faith in God for opening the door as Trumbull County Family Court Judge.
