Effective immediately, checks returned for Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF) will not be redeposited. A $15.00 NSF fee will be assessed to the account holder. The Treasurer’s Office will no longer waive or absorb NSF fees. Per Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) § 3-414, by signing a check, the drawer (writer) is legally obligated to pay the draft according to its terms at the time it was issued, provided there are sufficient funds to cover the amount.
The Treasurer’s Office has implemented a new electronic payment system. All credit and debit card transactions are now subject to a 2.5% processing fee. This fee is imposed by the payment processor and added directly to the total amount due. Notices are posted at the payment counter and on all payment terminals.
To avoid additional charges, please ensure sufficient funds are available before issuing a check or consider paying by cash or money order to avoid card processing fees. We appreciate your cooperation and attention to these updates.
